One way we enjoy the feeling of success and feel positive about ourselves is by acknowledging the completion of a task or project. When we multitask we more often just move on to the next thing, replace the thing we just finished with a brand new ball and the madness continues. Our minds and spirits need to feel the success of doing one thing well. Begin today by choosing to do one thing and focus on one thing and see it through to completion before moving on to the next task. Experiment with “just” washing the dishes, “just” driving your car, doing nothing else but “just” focusing and listening to your spouse, child, or friend and be there and nowhere else. Initially this may be very uncomfortable. Your mind may want to go other places. Your hands will fidget and your body antsy. This is a practice. Over time you will gain greater control, greater mastery and eventually deeper peace. This practice in living well will support you in making every relationship and every experience more meaningful and more alive. Your character and your integrity will be sound and powerful-and your confidence will grow with every act of presence.
